The QP Briefing Podcast: Episode 1

The QP Briefing Podcast: Episode 1

In an attempt to add a little background information and bring our readers behind the curtain at Queen's Park, QP Briefing is trying out a new podcast, The QP Briefing Podcast. In our first-ever episode, reporters Geoff Zochodne, Jessica Smith Cross and Sabrina Nanji discuss the release of Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk's 2016 annual report, as well as the passage of a bill that will ban corporate and union donations to Ontario's political parties.

Any questions or comments can be directed to gzochodne@qpbriefing.com, jsmithcross@qpbriefing.com or snanji@qpbriefing.com.

Note: Apropos of the "upside-down" bridge we mention, Metrolinx disagrees with the auditor's report, and told the Toronto Star that "the issue was not with a truss but an incorrectly installed beam for metal cladding which could not be mounted." A refusal to correct this "misalignment" contributed to a decision to terminate a second contract with the company, Metrolinx said.

The other background stories:

The soundbites between segments are of (in order) PC Leader Patrick Brown, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath and Deputy Premier Deb Matthews.
