Heard: Health minister ‘can’t wait forever’ for doctors

There is still no date for negotiations to resume over Ontario doctors' compensation — Health Minister Eric Hoskins is blaming the doctors' association for “creating a wall” between itself and the government, preventing negotiations from going forward.

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is insisting on a guarantee it will get binding arbitration before it will resume negotiations with the province. There are no plans for that to occur, said Hoskins.

Hoskins told reporters Tuesday that he’d prefer to reach an agreement with the OMA than make more unilateral changes to the fee schedule that underlies physician compensation — but . . .
