Bruce Power and Brotech Precision CNC have shaken hands on a 10-year deal that will see Brotech supply shield plug assemblies as part of the energy producer's $13-billion, 15-year power plant refurbishment.

As part of the agreement, Brotech will set up a facility at the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station – the largest operating nuclear plant in the world – to assemble and test components, and eventually "perform CNC or ultra-high precision metal manufacturing," according to a joint release.

The Bruce Power "major component replacement project" will begin in Unit 6 in 2020, followed by Units 3 through 8, extending the life of the site to 2064, according to the two companies.

It looks like the sun will be mostly shining down on the Progressive Conservatives as the new government is sworn in Friday.

The party is giving the media a walkthrough of the plans tomorrow, but the Star already has the scoop that it will include outdoor events for the public, in keeping with Doug Ford’s “For the people” mantra.

According to Environment Canada, it’s going to be a hot one with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 31 C on Friday.
