This mandate would be an interesting career move for a results-oriented communications professional who thrives in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment with competing priorities. Innovative and resilient under pressure, you lead by example in building relationships, planning and implementing successful strategies, and delivering creative solutions. Reporting to the Director, Legislative Services and Communications, you will provide departmental leadership and direction while managing City-wide strategies for communications, community engagement and customer relations. This is a broad portfolio encompassing corporate event management, policies and plans related to branding, advertising, media relations, issue management and social media, internal and external communications, including corporate publications and content for the internet and intranet, as well as corporate sponsorships.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (DELIVERABLES)

More specifically, as Senior Manager of Corporate Communications & Community Engagement, you will:

  • Plan and set goals, objectives and priorities for the department, monitor performance and productivity levels, and manage and align resources to deliver projects, assignments and tactics.
  • Ensure the department can meet current customer needs while building capacity for future growth and challenges.
  • Develop, administer and monitor the department’s budget.
  • Lead the development, creation and implementation of innovative strategic communication and marketing strategies and initiatives to meet corporate needs and demands.
  • Oversee the authoring of effective press releases and other brand awareness marketing material.
  • Champion strong relationships with the offices of the Mayor, Council, CAO and Commissioners, and provide strategic support, serve as the corporate spokesperson, and facilitate media inquiries and interviews.
  • Build trust and foster excellent working relationships with internal clients, external stakeholders and industry leaders.
  • Set service level agreements between the department and its customers.
  • Create, promote and oversee corporate standards pertaining to logos, icons, terms and images.
  • Provide oversight and strategic counsel on corporate market and stakeholder research.
