Matt Elliott, who has covered Toronto City Hall for eight years and is a contributor to CBC Toronto, joins the podcast for a discussion about the intersection of municipal and provincial politics. Elliott discusses the challenges cities such as Toronto are facing after the provincial government announced millions of dollars in cuts to municipalities. He delves into Premier Doug Ford’s time at City Hall while his brother, Rob Ford, was mayor, and also talks about how he doesn’t think it’s feasible for the City of Toronto to find the savings that the province is expecting. He also discusses his recently launched City Hall Watcher newsletter and provides some samples of the different issues he explores.
